- We are one of the most dynamic football teams in Penang. We understand that we might not have the best players with C.Ronaldo-like superstar abilities, but we make up for that with our determination, amazing team spirit, grit and some old-fashioned hard work. The team is young and bursting with potential and we are always on the lookout for friendly games in between our matches to gather more experience as well as having a good time. Did you notice the error in the Rambler's goalkeeper name under the second photo or is it no one told me than Adrian has change both his name and surname to Dennis Lim.
It is sad to go down to the defending champions but there has already been great progress in the Orange team.
Football in terms of it being played at a competitive levels requires a combination of good physical qualities, willpower, skill, attitude, temperament and mental strength. Ramblers is reasonably rated in most of these areas but there is a weaker aspect when it comes to match temperament and mental strength which is a common problem to a team with mostly younger and still 'hot' players. I already noted this in a recent Social Frees friendly match which also included certain Orange players. During a scuffle and probably an unintentional nonetheless bad foul, a Social Free player was pushed by the opponent. The Orange player concerned 'comforted' him and told him let us do the same thing and #@#@ them. I overheard their conversation and immediately told them that as the manager of the team with a reputation to maintain, I will have them removed from the game immediately if they did just that and the game proceeded with no further incidents.
The use of 4 letter words especially during the game should be banned as it ignites bad feelings which could translate to violent or unnecessary bad play. Players should be trained to practice restrain in matches where the referee is "always right" regardless of if they had made a bad or unfair decision. Bad tackles should be curtailed to the minimum and rather players should consider what was their error that led to the need to respond with a desperate tackle in the first place. Personal feeling or enmity towards fellow players or opponents should be thrown aside while playing the game or one should ask not to play. I know that the result was compromised due to a red card but please forgive and forget that incident and give the offending player a chance to breathe again with a lesson learnt, and move on.
