I'm sure everyone feels disappointed with our semi-final exit at the hands of CRC... especially more so when we dominated a large part of the match. But that was in the past (1 week ago, actually) and now we have to look to the future.
So, my question would be... where do we go from here? We've had a terrific season by any standards. We were quarter-finalists for the Merdeka Cup (SG2 League), we qualified for a Chinese League semi-finals, and until we're told otherwise, we're still in with a shout in the DTL Div.3 League. But every team needs to re-inforce their resources and I'm sure all our players have an idea or two on where we need to improve in order for us to go further (and win something) next year. Is it the defence? Do we need a playmaker? Does Heng and Brown need more cover? Should we change formations? Maybe we just need a bit more training?
So, go ahead... feel free to give us your input.
Welcome to the blog of one of the most dynamic football teams in Penang. This site details our adventures, our expectations, our hopes and most of all the different personalities that make this team great. Enjoy...

hmm.. i was wondering wat happened to our blogger. haha
my opinion, reinforcements is definitely a must but it's not like we are Man City or Chelsea that we can go out there and get the players we want. So while we are looking for possible targets, i believe the management should sit down and talk to the players what they want for next season. Example? Try to close the gaps within the 11st team and the bench players by talking, encouraging the bench players to raise their standards. Maybe in terms of his fitness, gameplay or mayb adjusting into new position.
After the game with CRC, i can only see a few things that we didn't do for the most of the season, thats discipline on the pitch especially the Midfielders. Rewind back the game back, it is really and inspiring performance from the team.. but the question is can we consistantly perform the way we play that day?
There's a lot of things we can still improve as a team but lets not look into other things first cos i believe these 2 things will be the most important for us next season.. Close the gap within the players and the discipline on the game.
Just a 2cents opinion from me~! Cheers~!
Discipline on the pitch in what way? Talking back to the ref &/or opposition / yellow & red cards? Or standing in the correct positions when we have the ball and/or when the opposition have the ball?
I was wondering what was the purpose of the previous photograph of "Ramblers at PFS" and the current "What Now?" article. I have been so engrossed with problems at work that I forgot that following my retirement, I had given an earlier undertaking to continue to book the PFS field for Orange Ramblers until the end of the year 2008 after which it is implied that an alternative venue will have to be sourced for 2009.
So the photograph of "Ramblers at PFS" is meant for the Orange Ramblers' archives as a reminiscent of the time it used to play at PFS putting it quite diplomatically.
For a young team, Orange Ramblers have performed remarkably well though unfortunately, it has still fallen short of its targets for this year. The loss of a facility such as the opportunity to continue using the PFS field will undoubtedly be a severe blow to Ramblers efforts to achieve in 2009what it narrowly missed in 2008.
Hence, in the spirit of friendship, I will continue to try to provide Ramblers with the use of the PFS football field until end 2009. This is my small contribution given the enormous sacrifice made by the management of Michael/Max. However, I am unlikely to consent again towards the PFS field being used for other reasons such as the Chinese League as the field is only meant for Ramblers to continue its development.
For your information, the new look Social Frees team was launched on 15 November 2008 with a friendly match with Barca. Teams were quite equally matched but Barca lost by a rather dubious penalty award for a foul which I felt might have taken place slightly outside the penalty box though the referee was much nearer to the area where the infringement took place. The new Social Frees is a merger of Madrid, Frees (old and currently still studying)and players from the Sunday Social games. Jerome & Associates will act as its direct sponsor and the targeted participation in any friendly played would be at least more than half of its players are linked to PFS. My continued support for Ramblers would mean less field usage for the Social Frees in 2009. Hence, some big plans for the Social Frees will be delayed until 2010.
Dezy,
The discipline on the pitch means stick to the game plan no matter when we have or the opposition have the ball. A simple example would be how Max did his job againts Wai Loon the other day, sticking to the opponents not allowing him to dictate the play freely.
>.<
Jerome, we've always appreciated what you've done for us all this while. So I guess it would only be fitting for me to extend a very big "Thank You" to the guy who's worked tiredlessly behind the scenes. The field bookings have been really, really important to us.
Jerome, we really appreciate that. Thanks. but i hope we'll still get your support in future
