Ramblers, missing several key players and short on back-up, went down fighting to a youthful Uplands team. Despite starting with 10 men in each half, Ramblers managed to match the eagerness of the youngsters and the substituting players gave a really commendable performance. Unfortunately quantity does play a part and Uplands took advantage of that to knock 2 past Michael to send Ramblers into a lost.

We should have just played Arsenal / Liverpool of the 80s style - pass and move.
Dezy.. it's nice if we can play that way.. but are the team willing to take a step back to make 2 steps forward? i'd be really happy if we can really start really playing football~!
I've been contemplating Au's statement for a while and came up with:
1) Without a different style of play, Ramblers will become very predictable in that all the opposition would do is to man mark Wes Brown - BANG - game over for us. (I'm not saying that we are a one man team but in the big matches, he is our focal point of attack.)
2) I think sometimes we need to adjust the pace of a match to suit our needs. My key example would be the game when we went 3 nil up vs Impro in the Chinese Super League yet persisted with the same gung ho tactics when we should have controlled the game and passed them to death. I'm still gutted we lost the 2 points.
3) It saves energy. When your team is tired, it is better to switch to a more patient passing game in order to conserve your own team's energy whilst simultaneously tiring (physically) & frustrating (mentally) the opposition.
Eventually you will open up them up as you start to draw players out of position and then you can use your renewed legs to burst through the gaps.
So whether the team are willing or not is up to them - I just think it is necessary to have a change of pace/playing style.
I agree with Derek's view on this. We SHOULD try something different or we'll just end up being predictable!
